Hosting a Party

THRIVE Life is one of the best companies to host a party for! And it is a great time to host one!  With the new year right around the corner, lots of goals will be set on "being prepared".  This is how we got started with Thrive Life and the company makes it easy to keep working on the goal and not quitting.  December is a great time to go into the new year with a push to be prepared.

Hosts are rewarded with free and discounted items.  No matter what is purchased or how much is purchased you will receive 10% in free product (at retail price).  On top of that when $400 or more is purchased at your party you will begin to receive half-off items!  For a table on amounts go HERE.

For the month of December, if you host a party and have at least $400 in qualifying  party sales or 2 Qs processed at your party you will get a THRIVE Minced Garlic (dehydrated) for free!  This is not available any other way!  For all the information on this promotion, go HERE.

The above picture is one of the host's rewards after a party.  She got everything here for free or 1/2 off!  She was able to fill her 72 hour kits and begin her food storage!

You can do this too!  All you have to do is tell your friends/family about it, provide a place to have the party and I will do the rest!  Lets get your party scheduled so you can get a free Garlic Spice and begin the new year with a whole lot more food storage!

2014

I am enjoying the end of this year and the excitement of Christmas, but with the releasing of the 2014 curriculum for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I can't help but be excited for the new year.

The theme for the youth (mutual age 12-18) will be "Come Unto Christ"!  I love this theme.  It is an excellent opportunity for the youth to focus on learning about the Savior and coming to know him and what his sacrifice means to them individually.

The primary also has announced their 2014 theme which will be, "Families are Forever".  I love that the focus will be on teaching the children that the family is eternal and Heavenly Father loves each of them so much, that he prepared a way for them to return with him.

I am excited for the new year and the opportunities we are given to better complete ourselves and continue working on what is most important.  I am looking forward to 2014!  It will be an amazing year!

December

I got my Black Friday order!  My kids were so excited to see the boxes next to the door when they got up from their naps!  They love any sort of box, but they love when food comes in it; so it was an even better surprise for them.  Hopefully, you were able to get some things you wanted too!

The December specials also made it to my inbox today!  I am so excited.  I have been waiting for sauces to come on Specials, and this month it is even better than just a special, it is the Q-Pon!  You can do so many things with the sauces!  And this way, you get the 4 pack for a great discount.  I also love the pineapple chunks (if you didn't get them with the black Friday sale), the carrot dices (I used them in our chicken noodle soup tonight) and the apple slices and banana slices!

If you are wanting to start building your food storage in this upcoming year, you can begin now and get some great deals!  I love how THRIVE simplifies my cooking (not so much washing and chopping) and provides me with healthy snacks for my kiddos while I also stock up on items for the unknown!  Give me a call if you want to make an order or have any questions!

Oh Black Friday!

Until last year, I had NEVER done the Black Friday shopping.  However, I am loving that many stores allow you to take part in Black Friday from the comfort of your own home.

I am really excited about THRIVE Life's Black Friday this year!  It is their BIGGEST SALE of the year!  EVERY SINGLE THRIVE food is on sale!  There are also some great sales on their rotation shelves and also emergency supplies.  This sale would be a great way to enter into the new year with some of that food storage you keep saying you want to get, or would be a great opportunity to get some great deals on Christmas gifts.  I already have a few Pre-Orders for Christmas shopping from some of my customers!  So CLEVER!

It begins at 12:00 am on November 29 and concludes on December 2 at 5:00 pm.

For your ease, below you will find the flyers.  These are only some   of the sales.  You can access the page with ALL the sales HERE.  Just select the category that you would like, and then the drop-box will show all the products in that category, the retail price and the Black Friday price.  You will be able to do your own shopping for Black Friday on the website and still get the best prices.  But if you would rather me put in your orders, I would be more than happy to!

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you build your Home Store and food storage/emergency essentials for less!

A Time of Thanksgiving

I have 2 toddlers... Well, I guess I should rather say 2 kiddos at or under the age of 3.  They are full of life and anxious to learn.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner we have been doing a push to remember all the things we are grateful for (and focus on those things).  We also make sure at the end of the day to add in things in our bedtime prayers.  That way prayers aren't becoming monotonous and the kiddos can come up with things pretty easily (because we have just worked on their turkeys).

I can't take credit for much of the idea, but I wanted to share it with you.  There is still plenty of time to get enough "hands" on there and make it a very grateful turkey.

I got the idea from Enchanted Learning.  It has some really great ideas and why reinvent the wheel?  I found the little face just by searching turkey clipart and found it on ABC teach.  From there, I just searched for pictures of things my kiddos would be grateful for.  They can't read, and so it would do them no good if I simply wrote down words.  I found pictures of things we do, see and enjoy.  I then traced their hands on orange, red, and yellow paper (if you fold it into fourths and trace once, after you cut you will get 4 hands!  saves some time).  Each night before our bedtime routine, we take their turkeys off the wall, talk about things that happened throughout the day, and then I give them a couple of pictures to select a "thankful" from.  I glue it on the turkey and then we talk about all the thankfuls.  My kids are loving it and there have been a few nights they remind me to do the turkey.

Hope that you are able to find a way to help your kids to see all their blessings and to find ways to count them!

A Hard Time

Sometimes it seems as though life is in a rut.  That things keep piling up and are just too overwhelming to overcome. With all the movement of life we expect picture perfect moments.  Ones that we see on blogs, Facebook, instagram, (insert whatever social network or means by which you feel not good enough or that you are not living up to what you "should" be, or that your life is not as "good" as theirs).  We are each on this Earth to have opportunities to become the best self we can be.  Not anyone else's self, our own.  I recently saw a quote that said, "it takes courage to grow up and become who you really are".  I love it.  We each are given our own pains, trials, and things to overcome in life.  Not one of us will experience the same things because not one of us is the same.  We are NOT alone though!  We have a loving Heavenly Father that is eager to hear what we have to tell him.  During this time of year we are more aware of our blessings (which is wonderful) but it is alright to occasionally say, "Hope ya know, I had a hard time".  He wants to give you comfort and help you through your "hard time".  He may not take it away, but he is there and will help you through WHATEVER you are experiencing.  I know this to be true.  I have felt his love for me, even in those moments when I just KNEW I didn't deserve it.  His love for me is unconditional and my knowledge of it only grows as I let him in.  You are not alone.  Let him in as this season continues.  Be grateful for your many blessings but find comfort in your heartaches, pains and trials.

Self Reliance

Elder Hales said it better than I ever could.  If we live this principal of being more self reliant, we will see blessings in our lives beyond what we can expect.  I hope that through this blog, others can find ways to be more self reliant and provide for ourselves and our families.

November Specials

October came and went and now brings us to the wonderful month of November.  I love coming into the holiday season and especially love the opportunity to really focus on family and the blessings I am given and enjoy each day.
It is also a time to begin thinking about items to give for Christmas and goals for next year.  I have had a few people buy THRIVE foods to give away as gifts.  I have also had a few people want to find out more about our "Q" that ships an order of THRIVE each month to your home to help build your home store and food storage (great and common goals for the New Year).
I wanted to share the specials for the month.  There are some great items.  I will be getting my blueberries, eggs and potato beads later this week.  * I wanted to mention that the instant milk that THRIVE has is not the same as powdered milk.  It tastes not so much like powdered milk (THRIVE carries powdered milk too; if you would like to try it and life close text/email/call me and you can come try some) and is just like regular milk.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.  To get the Q-club price, you must order directly through me :)  But if there are other items you would like to purchase feel free to go to my website and write down a shopping list and I will get it ordered for you at the best price possible.

Hope you are enjoying this wonderful season as well and I look forward to hearing from you!

Oh, how fall is my favorite time of the year.  The colors, smells and excitement all make me just want to giggle.  I love how the new found "chill" allows me to make soups for dinner and how I get an excuse to drink hot chocolate!

September Specials

August came and went and now we have new specials for September.  The best special of all would be RASPBERRIES!
I love THRIVE raspberries.  My kiddos also love them so I will add them to pancakes, waffles and all other sorts of things for them to find their "treats".
I was also excited to see green onions on sale.  I don't like to buy them fresh because I just don't use them fast enough, so this way I don't have to worry about that.

Some other items I was excited about being on sale (because I use them ALL the time) were chopped onion, instant black beans, blueberry yogurt bites, and Colby cheese.
Let me know if you would like to order any of the above items at their sale prices or if you are in need of other items for your home store or food storage.

Thrive-a-ganza

Thought I would share Thrive Life's current special with you!  Thrive-a-ganza!  It is one of the best sales they have all year and includes some great items.  Sale lasts until September 2 OR when the inventory is gone, so you should put in your order as soon as possible to make sure you get the sale price!

THRIVE-A-GANZA

The Aug specials are also still occurring so now is a great time to get the items you need for your food storage or your home store (whatever you are building).

If you have been looking at getting the Consolidator Pantry Plus, now is a great time.  It is marked down from $62.99 to $32.99

Or if you are in need of Freeze Dried beef dices, a #10 can is marked down $11.40 to a total of $42.79.  The chicken slices, red seedless grapes, pineapple chunks and mozzarella cheese are also among some of the sale items.

If you have any questions, give me a call and I would love to assist you in any way that I can!

Food Storage Friday

What do you have in your 72 hour kits?  Having kits ready to go is so important in an emergency.  It is definitely a big part of being prepared.  I thought I would tell you some of the items we have and give you some ideas.  I am sure there are more things you could have, but here is a good start.

*with back to school sales right now, it is a great time to get a backpack for each member of the family :)  With some "keep yourself busy" items inside.

72 hour kits :)

-Food for 3 days.  We have THRIVE fruit and vegetables along with some ready made meals.  If you have little ones, make sure to put some snacks in there as well to help pass the time if need be.  We also have granola bars, fruit snacks and other items that do not perish.

- Water for 3 days.  They say to have 1 gallon per person.  If you have anything that will need additional water, you may want to add more water.

-A change of clothes for each person and a set of pajamas (that is one reason each person needs their own bag).  Undergarments

- Blanket/Sheet (ours are small little fleece blankets.  Not sure what others do...)

-Flashlight

-Lighter

-Diapers/Personal needs (I make sure to have plenty of diapers as well as items such as pads and tampons...  If you don't need them, someone else might....)

-Pen and paper

-Coloring books and crayons

-Flashcard/card games/travel games

-Pocket knife, rope, duct tape

- Eating utensils and plates (if you can find a mess kit on sale, those work GREAT)

-Medication:  This includes Tylenol for children and self.  Also Prescription medication as well.

-Hand sanitizer, toilet paper, dish soap, shampoo, body soap

-Cash

I know there are many other items that can go into a 72 hour kit (and not all kits will be identical).  Select the items that need to go into particular kits (for instance, you would not put a lighter in a toddlers bag... etc).

*** Look at your kit every 6 months!  (I do mine at conference time-during conference sometimes....)

If you have an other items that you put in your kits, let us know :)  I love seeing others kits and getting better ideas for my own

Temple

I wanted to post this yesterday, but the day flew and before I knew it, today was here!  I am excited to share that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has started showing a new video for the endowment session!  I guess they haven't had a new one in 20 years or so!  It is exciting to get to be a part of this :)
Here is the article telling a little more...  Deseret News
I am excited to go and get to see it!

Thrifty Thursday THRIVE deals

It is ALREADY August and that means a whole new slew of deals on THRIVE foods.  Whether you are buying it for food storage or your home store, some of these deals you won't want to pass up.

Sweet corn is the item for the Q-PON (which means the deepest discount).  A #10 can retails for $19.19, however through the month of August you can get it for $14.39!  My kids eat this all the time (just out of the can) and I love to add it to meals.
Another item my kids eat like candy (seriously, they could go through an entire can in a day if I let them) are peach slices.  For this month you can get them for $24.69. Mmmmm....
Another item that is HOT at our house is the sausage crumbles.  It makes for a quick addition to eggs for breakfast or fun to put on pizzas.  They taste so good and you don't have to deal with the hassle of cooking.
They also have mangoes, monteray jack cheese, passionfruit yogurt bites, strawberry yogurt bites, red bell peppers, scrambled egg mix, and powdered sugar on sale this month.
For more of your emergency preparedness they also have a Fuel reserve 32 pack on sale for $29.99 and a quick fire stove on sale for $14.99.
If you are interested in any of these deals, feel free to shoot me an email, prepareyourshelves@gmail.com, call 801-513-7992, or message me for details or to put an order in. You can also visit  http://prepareyourshelves.thrivelife.com to look at other items that are available; just remember when you order directly through me, I can get you a slightly lower price than even my website :)

Child of God

I have found in life that when we get too comfortable where we are at, usually something is done to stir us up...  I have been serving in the Sunday School teaching 12-14 year olds and loved it.  I loved the new curriculum and was learning as I was preparing and teaching.  However, I guess it was my turn to move on (I only served in that calling for about 9 months) to NURSERY.  With BOTH of my children :)

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I believe that my Heavenly Father knows me and knows what I need.  I trust that at this time I am needed in nursery.

Yesterday I taught a lesson teaching the children that they are children of a loving Heavenly Father.  That he created them.

Next time you are feeling down, remember, that You also are a child of God.  That he knows you.  That he Loves you!

Thrifty Thurs

Many people have asked if it is actually worth hosting a party for THRIVE Life.  I decided to have one of my hosts take a picture of everything she got for either FREE or 1/2 off.  She was going to order off of the website (which is the highest price) and instead she hosted a party, had a few people over and got much more than she would have if she had just ordered.

She got items for her 72 hour kit and just yesterday informed me that with everything she got from THRIVE (and some rice and cans of food she already had) she figured she could feed her and her spouse for 1 1/2 months!  Not a bad beginning!
For a party we can do in home or virtual.  Just let me know what you would like to do and we will get your food storage supply for FREE or/and half off!

Special witnesses

As I have gotten older, I have grown to appreciate the special blessings that we have been given for our time. I am aware of the increasing difficulty for ourselves and our posterity; yet I am comforted in knowing that we are given the tools to be prepared and handle the challenges and trials we may face. Of all our tools, we have been blessed with a prophet and apostles who are the mouthpiece of our Heavenly Father. I am grateful for the words they speak to us and especially for their sweet testimonies. If you have a few moments, take the opportunity to listen to some of them. Many of them touch on different aspects of our gospel, yet from each man you can feel the spirit of truth and knowledge.

Relationships

Inspirably.com

I love how our insurance gives us goals to work on through the year.  We have previously had goals such as; eating healthier or exercising more.  Nothing really had limitations or expectations, just to be better than what you were before.  With the end of this month and the beginning of July came a new goal: build and strengthen my relationships!

This one particularly caught my attention.  I studied marriage and family relationships in college and find them to be particularly important (although I have not had the best of experiences with some of those particular relationships).  On the flyer that we were sent (DMBA-Living Healthy Wellness Program), they have some keys to healthy relationships.

·         Communication- I think this may be the most difficult but the most important.  Relationships are formed because of intimacy with the person (not just physical but emotional as well).  We have to share our thoughts and feelings and hear others to build this trust and therefore building the relationship.  Think about those that you communicate the most with; they are probably considered your closest friends and confidants.  It is because you have a relationship that was built and is being built through communication.

·         Forgiveness- Without this, we would get nowhere!  We are human.  We will make mistakes.  We will say stupid things.  We may not mean to (or maybe we do) but it is important to remember that those around us are also human and will also make mistakes and be dumb.  Take the higher road and make the effort to forgive and get over those words or actions.  In the grand scheme of things, it probably isn’t worth the relationship.

·         Respect- If one person demeans the other, the relationship is not healthy.  No matter the relationship, we need to take the time to listen and encourage them.  Respect is something that everyone deserves to have.  No one should take that from anyone.

·         Honesty- Have you ever had a relationship where you were not able to be honest with them?  Just as I write that I think of it as lying.  We need not be harsh or critical, but we do need to be able to build on the relationship by being honest and open in all our dealings.  I honestly don’t believe that a relationship can be a very good one without honestly…

Some things that it talks about that will ruin a relationship are: demanding your own way, talking about self all the time, being emotionally needy, always having to be right, lying or being condescending.

Analyze your relationships; your actions and the way you conduct yourselves.  Relationships are one thing that can always be better.  When we become stagnant in a relationship, it begins to digress.  Focus on the keys to a successful relationship and see how your life improves and happiness becomes more abundant!

Gospel Library

For those of you who have devices that have apps, I wanted to let you know that the church has updated their Gospel Library. It is much more user friendly and has some features that previous ones don't have. If you haven't downloaded it, I love it! It has so many items you can download and read anytime and it keeps all your notes easily accessible! Yay for simple!

THRIVE Life

So, lately I have had a few questions and I thought I would put them out there just in case some of you have the same ones.

THRIVE Life used to be named Shelf Reliance.  They have a large variety of things from food, emergency essentials and shelves to help you store you items.

Food:  Most of their food is done through a Freeze Drying system which leaves the nutrients in the food.  Most items can be eaten right out of the can, however some prefer to rehydrate them (which takes minutes if that is what you prefer).  Some people use these foods every day (my onions, celery, carrots get used in my cooking daily while my children love to snack on the peas, corn, potatoes and fruits and I use my whole eggs in all my baking).  Others, buy the food for their food storage and store it out of the way.  I have also seen many people buy the Express packs for their 72 hour kits!  I love that idea!

When it comes to emergency essentials, they have what is needed.  From grinders to emergency kits, stoves to sanitation items they have a wider variety.  They also carry multiple water filtration methods and containers to store water in that help us be prepared.

Finally, they have their shelving units that you have more than likely seen at a retailer.  Small ones that fit within your pantry that help rotate your cans of food to large freestanding systems that hold hundreds of cans.

THRIVE Life really does have the selection to help you prepare and stay organized while you are doing it.  I love how they make it possible for anyone to start their journey on being prepared by having consultants (that get paid; like me) and hosts (that earn free items and discounted things).  I also love how they have programs that you can use to find out what you need for your family to be prepared if there was an emergency.

THRIFTY Thursday

Alright, I know I already posted something about this but as I was looking at it, I couldn't help but want to post it again!  Especially for a THRIFTY THURSDAY!

The company just recently updated their Starter Kits.  They have done this so that a new consultant would have everything that is needed to hold a party!  They are pretty neat and have a good amount within them.  The best deal is the Value Starter Kit.  I was impressed with the amount that comes in it.  The Value kit retails for over $475!  And when you order it through me I can get it for you for $289!  That is an AMAZING deal.  It has a THRIVE Express pack with 12 pouches, the business pack, a literature pack and over 20 pantry size cans of food!

If you go to this site and click on starter kit contents, you can see everything that is included.

Give me a call or shoot me an email and I can get you any other information you would like about becoming a consultant.  I also have a promotion right now that if you join my team, I will give you a "some of my favorite things" pack :)

Now is a GREAT time to join!  Get your shelves prepared and do it for less!

Born to CREATE

I have pondered a lot lately on what I am accomplishing throughout my days....  Somedays it seems like I do nothing, yet have spent the day overwhelmed by the messes appearing and reappearing everywhere. Waiting to be picked up, cleaned up or changed. It is on those days that life seems to be monotonous; as though I was maybe cut out for more.... It is then that I remind myself; I was born to create and so were my children. My children are taking that instinct with full force and mastering it. They are also giving me the opportunity to master a part of my innate talent to create and serve. Sometimes, we just need to take a step back and see the masterpieces as masterpieces opposed to destruction sites, the noodles all over as art pieces, and the mud pies as experimenting with cooking.

So today, in whatever circumstance you may be or are in, stand back and see the beauty you are creating. Enjoy the things you have created and don't fret about what others may think of your creations.

Relief Society

I never quite understood the importance of the Relief Society.  Growing up I was not around it much and didn't understand it.  It has taken me many years to appreciate the sisterhood that it creates and gives women.  It is a form where we can find strength and help each other in times of need.  I recently found the Relief Society on the Mormon channel and thought I would share it (just in case you didn't know it was there).

Some of the June specials that caught my eye were RASPBERRIES, INSTANT RED BEANS, GROUND BEEF and PEAS.  There are a few more on there, but those were the ones that we use and eat regularly, so it was time to get some more.  If you want the flyer, feel free to email me at prepareyourshelves@gmail.com and I will get the lowest price for you.

Now for my specials...

You will get Thrive Life specials when ordering through me for this month AND my personal specials.  If any of what I post, you would rather something else, let me know and we can work something out!  :)  It never hurts to ask.

Hosting a party has amazing benefits. You earn 10% of all party sales, no minimum, in FREE product! On top of that you will earn additional 50% off of more product. Those are just your normal benefits. For this month when you host a party with me as your consultant, I will give you a #10 size can of DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM BARS!  (Mmmmm... Just in time for summer too!)  If you are looking for a great opportunity to start or add to your food storage, this is the way to go!

If you are not in my area, online parties can also be done. Contact me for further information so you can also take part in this deal.

For the month of June, anyone who signs up for "The Q" with a budge of at least $100 I will give  a pantry size can of any protein you would like to try (meat, beans, tvp's).

Finally, if you have already tried THRIVE or if you think that you would enjoy being a consultant, right now I am offering a Party Package that will have a few items in it that I will give to you to help you get to know the product better (some of my favorites or some you just want to try) when you join my team. The company also has a great training program that is helping people like you and me be more successful at building our business.  Now is a great time to come aboard and build food storage and emergency supplies.

I am enjoying getting prepared. I enjoy what I eat and use THRIVE each and every day. I know that in an emergency my family would not be turned upside down and that life could continue without too many interruptions. I am grateful for that knowledge.

Wild Wednesday

Prepare Your Shelves was a title that came about for the need we have to be prepared.  This need is not just a physical need, but also a spiritual and emotional need as well.  We have a responsibility to not only be prepared for ourselves, but also for our families and those around us (especially those with children).

What are some things you would like help with being prepared for?  Ideas can include teaching children, water storage, food storage, emergency preparedness, saving money, budgeting, strengthening marriages, personal enrichment, study skills....

If you have some good ideas that you would like to hear, or you have something you would like to post, feel free to comment or shoot me an email....  prepareyourshelves@gmail.com

Brave

As women sometimes I think we find ourselves insignificant, possible not even important.  With that comes not feeling like our words and feelings matter.  THEY DO and so do YOU!

So, today show how "big your brave is" and be confident in who you are and what you love.  Others will learn from your example and love you even more for it!

What Matters Most

I have been Missing in Action, and honestly, don't have any good reasons except playing with my kiddos.  They grow up so fast that I just wanted to be with them and watch them grow and learn.

With the coming of the new month, I have been contemplating how things are going and how I can better accommodate the needs of my family with the "to-do's" of everyday life.  As I was listening to some videos this morning from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I found this video that I thought I would share....

Sometimes we (I) get so busy in life that we forget what really matters most.  Take the time to ponder on what really matters most to you, and then to act on it and share those feelings. Take the time to share how much you love someone!

Mormon Monday

I have had many thoughts for the post today; however, someone linked to this article from Elder Oaks from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is entitled, Protect The Children.  It got me thinking about all the many children who do not have all the love and care they deserve. It is hard to think about it in the broad perspective of world, so I want to narrow down my thoughts just a bit.

I came from a house where my mother was an alcoholic. My step father had a TBI that created an uneasiness between the two of us. My home life was less than desirable (however, I am grateful for the trials I did not have to face). Looking back though, it was the people that stood up to protect me and nurture me that did not have to. Te example that many of those adults set for me are what kept me going then and are often what I now reference as a mother. In some instances, I don't believe that they had any idea of what I was facing, but they still made room for me in the protection of their "wing". This is what we have the responsibility to do! To not only love and protect our own children, but to also love and protect the other children whom come into our lives.

May we take the opportunity daily to look behind the rough edge of the children that may pass through our lives and see them as our Father in Heaven sees them and show them that unconditional love.

Food Storage Friday

Food storage encompasses so much more than just the food that we will need to eat if there comes a time to rely on what we have stored.  Think about your everyday activities.  What are some of the items that you may take for granted but you would notice if they were missing?  Dish soap, paper towels, TOILET PAPER?  I can think of many items.  Those items are also things you will want to have a supply of.  More ideas include tooth paste, cleaners, diapers, wipes, feminine products...  Think about the items that you rely on.  Make a list.  When you find a good sale, buy some extra and begin your supply.  This way you not only are building your storage but you are doing it for less and without panic.

Thrifty Thursday Clearance

I love clearance items ( sometimes). I guess I should explain that sometimes clearance isn't really a deal. For example, there are some stores that mark things as clearance but then you compare it to normal price and it is only discounted a few cents. Don't get me wrong, a few cents adds up, but don't be fooled if you can wait for a better deal....

With that said, sometimes deals come up that don't last very long. Right now THRIVE has some food storage on clearance that once is gone, is gone... Some of the deals are really good. If you live near me and would like to put in an order with me to save on shipping, let me know. If not, shipping isn't that expensive and I love that it comes right to your door :)  For anyone who would like to do an order, I will probably do it early next week....  Here is a link to the  Clearance Deals.

A time to Grow

I think it is amazing to see how we, as a society, advance and grow.  I have noticed lateley a trend in what I read (mostly on blogs) about how people have taken their trials and successes and shared them with others.  This sharing can be looked at in multiple lights.  Some may look at it and say that they are seeking attention or yearning for approval; however I say that their experiences can make the rest of us stronger!  We can take from them and learn how to overcome challenges before or during when they occur.  I love that we are no longer afraid to share the imperfections in our lives, we all have them.  We are here to learn and if we band together, we will become stronger and harder to break.

The purpose of mortality is to learn and to grow to be more like our Father, and it is often during the difficult times that we learn the most, as painful as the lessons may be.  -Thomas S. Monson

I think by taking the opportunity to share some of our experiences, we are able to look at our experiences and see them in different lights. Often it is a way for us to document and move on as well. As I have talked with friends it has be come obvious that we are taught to put on a good face.and not let anyone see our weaknesses.  Although I do agree with this to some extent (if we are always negative all we will see in life is the dreary) I do think that we are leading the next generation into a false future.  We are here to learn. We are here and trials will occur.  It does not show inadequacy to hurt or to cry. It shows that one has feelings and is not numb. Thank you to those who have decided to share your raw stories. Who you are and why you are that person!

Celebrations

Time seems to fly with children (and at moments stand completely still).  From the time they are infants they are learning and growing.  Each moment is an opportunity to help them feel safe, loved and to feel accomplished.  We are working daily with Snuggles on speaking (which means that Bay gets just as much). We use words constantly and give ample opportunities for him to say the words.  We encourage constantly.  It made me think about life in general.  When children are young, it is easy to celebrate with them.  Each advance seems to be monumental.  Constant celebrations takes place.
Unfortunately, as children get older, sometimes celebrations cease to be as constant or even at all.  Children are still advancing.  They are still learning.  They yearn for that approval that they once knew and helped encourage them.  I don't think that parties need to be had for every occasion, however I do think that we need to take more opportunities to celebrate our children (at any age).  Let them know they are important and that you notice their hard work and dedication.  They are important to you; share that with them!

Something Extraordinary

I love reading about how things came to happen in history, particularly this history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of my favorite people to learn more about is Emma Smith. To me, she was an extrordinary woman with amazing strength and perseverance. To be honest, on days when I think I can't go any more, I can dig into stories I know of her and know that my trials can be overcome. I was recently shown this online magazine that 4 women wrote. To be honest, I have not read the entire thing yet but what I have read I enjoyed and I learned a few new things that made being a part of Relief Society even more of a special thing.

Like a Child

A video was released today that I couldn't help but talk about. It is entitled " Just Like Me".

It is a small boy who talks about how mom cries when he cries, is broken when he is broken, shares joy when he is joyful and how really, she must want to be just like him. To all mothers who want to be just like their children, it is an honor.  On those days that seem that bedtime will never come, remember that it will be worth it. Pay offs come each and every day. Sometimes we just have to look a little harder for them. Be strong. Be the mom that cries, laughs, and breaks with your children; that is what they will remember!

Motherhood

As women here on this Earth we have a divine calling to nurture.  This video has been going around for mothers, but remember, if you are a woman and have any contact with those who are learning and growing, you too are a mother and are using that divine gift you have been given.

Knit together

The phrase "knit together" means to join or grow together.  This idiom is used under many circumstances, but where I hear it most is when talking about families and relationships.

I came from a not so "knit together" family and married into a much more "knit together" family.  It has been an amazing opportunity to see what it means and to really take a new perspecitve on the idea of being joined or to grow together. As I was growing up, I would have experiences with friends or long distance cousins who had this "knit together" atmosphere, and I always thrived on what they had.  I didn't realize then, how important it truly is.  To not only be this way with your immediate family, but to take it even further...

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has much focus on genealogy.  Their site has changed to accommodate the need to be knit together.  To not only know names associated in one's family history, but now we can attach pictures and stories.  Make it more personal.  Get to know our ancestors!

Why is that important?  The New York Times recently had an article entitled, "The Stories that Bind Us".  This article shares research that was conducted to show how important being knit together as family is for our children (and I would dare say it helps us as adults too).  The more children are familiar with family stories (success and failure), the more capable they are when they have trials and other setbacks.

So, for FHE tonight, or for a quiet book, maybe consider telling stories of where family has come from, what they have experienced and anything else you may know.  Family is important and the more "knit together" we are, the stronger our children will become.

May is here

Oh my word!  April flew by and is now gone with the month of May already into full action.  Does anyone else wonder where time has gone?  Somedays seem to just lagg but then I look back and just don't know where all the time went!  Maybe I need to prioritize better... Any suggestions?

I thought for Thrifty Thursday I would share my deals for the month of May with products from Thrive Life.  These are only offered from me and they are in addition to those that the company does.

To-Do's

Being a homemaker is hard work!  There is so much to be done. Always laundry waiting to be washed or folded, food to be cooked or cleaned up, or loves to be recieved or given.

Sometimes, I get caught up in all the "to-do's".  I feel overwhelmed by the lists of items that need accomplished.  It is always nice to have a reminder that those "to-do's" are not the most important thing that I need to be doing.  My children are the reason I do what I do, and they are my priority.  So, next time you look around your house and feel overwhelmed by the things that are not getting done, enjoy the memories you are making and the nurturing that is taking place instead.
